Jobless rates fall across Wisconsin

Lower unemployment rates across Wisconsin in October reflect expected seasonal trends, but there are some underlying concerns about the condition of the economy.

The unemployment rate for the Green Bay MSA, which includes Brown, Kewaunee and Oconto counties, was 5.3 percent in October, not seasonally adjusted, compared to 5.7 percent in September and 6.2 percent in October 2011.

"That's pretty typical this time of year," said Jeff Sachse, regional labor analyst for the state Department of Workforce Development. "We are not seeing the numbers, but we are seeing pre-recession hiring ...
