Fitness class offers head start to healthy holidays

A new Aspirus YMCA fitness class - Xtreme Xmas - aims to keep healthy eating and exercise in the forefront of participants' minds to prevent them from gaining the ever-feared holiday weight.

"The average person gains 7 pounds (during the holidays)," said class instructor Laurie Budnick, who developed the intense fitness class. "If you drop a few pounds now, you may get to the holidays and rethink those 10 Christmas cookies due to hard work."

Most classes offered at the YMCA take place solely in a fitness studio or the weight room. Budnick's goal with Xtreme Xmas is to utilize the entire facility ...
