Coaches: UWGB - Brian Wardle (31-36, third season); NDSU - Saul Phillips (89-68, sixth season).

Series: The Phoenix leads 6-2 but lost last season, 65-61, in Fargo, N.D. UWGB is 5-0 all-time at home against the Bison.

UWGB update: The Phoenix has lost three straight after its first 2-0 start since the 1995-96 season, but this is just the second home game of the season. It's the lone home game in an eight-game, 35-day stretch. Following today's game are three more on the road, at Virginia (Dec. 1), at Tennessee Tech (Dec. 6) and at Wisconsin (Dec. 12.) ... UWGB continues to struggling shooting. Center Alec Brown is shooting just 31.1 percent this season. Senior forward Brennan Cougill has the highest percentage among the starters (46.4 percent) despite having made just one of 16 3-pointers. Even 3-point specialist Kam Cerroni, who led the Horizon League in that category last season (46.5 percent), is just 6-for-25 (24.0 percent).

NDSU update: The Bison were picked second in the Summit League behind overwhelming favorite South Dakota State, which got all but one first-place vote. The other went to the Bison, who return four starters and the top-five scorers from last year's team that went 17-14 overall and 9-9 in conference play. Junior guard Taylor Braun was a first-team, all-conference preseason pick. ... De Pere grad Chris Kading has averaged 6.5 ppg and 3.7 rpg off the bench. Also coming off the bench are Manitowoc grad Nate Zastrow (1.5 ppg) and De Pere grad Brett VandenBergh (who hasn't scored despite playing in all six games). ... Leading scorer Mike Felt (14.7 ppg) has come off the bench in all six games. ... NDSU's only loss this season came at Indiana, 87-61, on Nov. 12. Among its five wins is an 83-80 overtime victory over Youngstown State, which was picked fourth in the Horizon League (one spot behind UWGB). ... Phillips is a Reedsburg, Wis. native who played for Bo Ryan at UW-Platteville and coached under him at UW-Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
