Morning roundup: Hayward gives Packers good options

Nov. 23, 2012

Rookie defensive back Casey Hayward has played so well in place of the injured Charles Woodson at the slot cornerback position that the Packers should consider putting Woodson at safety when he comes back next month.

That's the conclusion Pete Dougherty makes in his column (http://tinyurl.com/bhze9bd). Writes Dougherty:

"Sometime in the next few weeks, the 36-year-old Woodson will be back from a broken collarbone, and coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Dom Capers must decide where to play him. The answer should be safety, so Hayward remains in the nickel cornerback position where he’s been a difference-maker in Woodson’s absence."

Writes Demovsky: "Benson, who sustained a Lisfranc injury in his left foot Oct. 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, said this week that he’s expected to see a foot specialist soon to determine when — or if — he can return this season.
When asked if he had a timetable to return, Benson said: “'No, I wish I did, but right now I don’t.'”
