The Detroit Lions' dwindling playoff hopes weren't enough to bump their primetime match up against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 9 on "Sunday Night Football."
The NFL announced today the game between the two NFC North Division rivals at Lambeau Field will stay the 7:20 p.m. game rather than bumping the game from the slot under its flexible scheduling.
It's entirely possible Fox and CBS protected any other games it might have been interested, but the Packers-Lions game will stay in the slot nonetheless.
The Packers have played in four prime-time games this season with wins over Chicago and Houston, and losses to Seattle and now the New York Giants, who throttled them 38-10 on Sunday.
The Lions are sitting at 4-7 after a 34-31 overtime loss to the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day.
