Packers coach Mike McCarthy said today at his press conference that Cedric Benson will not practice this week and there will be an update Wednesday about the running backís status.
Benson has been on the injured reserve list but has the option to return.
The Packers originally hoped Benson, who suffered a sprained foot injury (Lisfranc) at Indianapolis on Oct. 7, would return sometime in December.
Other things McCarthy said during his presser, which was held a day later than normal:
*We will have conversation about how many plays Greg Jennings will play against the Vikings. It will be great to have him back.
*On the 55-yard field goal attempt, we have a game plan process. I was going to be aggressive. Wanted point production.
*On Cover 2 defenses being successful against the Packers: I don't think this game is all about scheme. It's never one scheme that takes away an offense.
*Itís unbelievable what Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has done this season, to play at that level coming off a serious injury.
*Following Sunday night's blowout loss, itís most important what we do with this performance (and how we learn from it). We are not going to change the way we go about our business.
*Would not say there was a lack of heart vs. Giants. Players that said that after game, those words were probably said with emotion.
*We haven't made a decision on tackle Derek Sherrod yet. (The Packers have until Wednesday to activate him or place him on injured reserve).
