Poll worker skeptical of Walker's plan

What is really behind Gov. Scott Walker's plan to eliminate same-day voter registration? He says he wants to make Election Day easier for poll workers. Really?

I am one of those gray-haired retirees who works the polls. Yes, it would be great if I didn't have to register voters during that long and often busy day. But I do not think voter registration rules should be changed for the convenience of poll workers. And I don't believe that is the real motivation for such a change. Do you?

It's to help prevent voter fraud, you reply. If the governor thinks poll workers are making mistakes registering voters, he should say that. Do these mistakes constitute voter fraud? Where is the evidence for voter fraud in our state, anyway?

I have helped many voters register on Election Day. They wait in voting lines, bring their kids, and juggle their busy day because they want to be responsible citizens.

In Wisconsin, we need to make it easier for our people to vote, not more difficult.
