Local tourism officials intend to break into the top 10 counties in tourism spending by building on this year's success in bringing new sports tourneys and entertainment to town and doing more to promote familiar attractions.

About 40 municipal, business, and sports group leaders held a four-hour tourism summit Wednesday at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau.
