The Green Bay Packers will finish their season with James Starks and Alex Green as their primary running backs.

The Packers were hoping Cedric Benson could return late this season from a foot injury, sustained Oct. 7 at Indianapolis, and serve as their main halfback for the stretch run. Coach Mike McCarthy, though, said Thursday that Benson had surgery on Wednesday to repair the Lisfranc injury in his left foot and will miss the rest of the season.

Starks recently surpassed Green as the team's top halfback, though they're still splitting time. Green has played mainly on passing downs, sharing ...
