Morning roundup: Cobb and Harvin showdown could be postponed

Nov. 30, 2012

They’re two of the most dynamic players in the NFL, but there’s a chance only one of them might be on the field when the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings meet on Sunday.

The sprained ankle that sidelined Percy Harvin for the Minnesota Vikings’ previous two games kept him out of practice on Thursday and could delay the must-see matchup between him and Packers’ second-year wide receiver, Randall Cobb, when the two teams meet at Lambeau Field this weekend.

In our Friday mainbar story, we take a look at how both Cobb and Harvin have taken steps toward becoming difference-makers for their respective team despite not being prototypical top-flight receivers.

Harvin, 24, has gained league-wide attention during his four years in the NFL, but the 22-year-old Cobb is relatively new on the scene and has led the Greg Jennings-less Packers with 58 receptions and 613 receiving yards.

“In a way, they’re both kind of similar — they’re both athletic and big in the return game,” Packers safety Morgan Burnett said. “You can put them at running back or receiver. It’s those type guys that if they get the ball in their hands, they’re capable of making plays at any time.”
