It's once again time for the choirs of St. Peter's to present a service of songs and readings reflecting the joy Christians experience when preparing to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Some of the songs sung by the choirs and congregation, and rung by the handbells, will remind us of the joyous birth of the Christ Child in Bethlehem, while others fit the Advent season which is the time set aside during the church year to prepare our hearts for the coming Savior. You are invited to hear, sing, and enjoy both Advent and Christmas carols which proclaim the joyful news at this song service on Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m.
Both adult choirs, the children's choir, and the two children's handbell choirs have been hard at work preparing for this evening of music. You will hear songs such as "Shepherd's Joy," "A Celtic Silent Night," "He Is Born," "An Irish Christmas Blessing," and "Casabel." Toward the end of the service the three choirs will join together to sing, "Jesus Joy of the Highest Heaven."
Phil Otto has once again volunteered to be our organist for the evening, providing wonderful music before and after the service, helping us to prepare our hearts for Christmas. Come early to listen while enjoying our beautifully decorated church.
This year, the Holiday Praise Service is part of a year-long celebration of the school's 150th anniversary. There will be an open house for the Fond du Lac community in our school from 1 to 3 p.m. that afternoon. Light refreshments will be served during the open house. Our church and school will also be open to the public before and after the service.
What a wonderful way to start your Christmas season!
