Packers climb to No. 5 in NFL power rankings

Dec. 4, 2012

The Packers rank anywhere from No. 5 to No. 7 in the latest round of NFL power rankings from selected national websites.

In one of the most curious rankings, ProFootballTalk.com (PFT) places the Packers No. 5 ahead of the 49ers, a team with a better record (8-3-1). The Packers (8-4) and Bears are tied for first place in the NFC North, but PFT doesn't even rank the Bears in the top-10 -- they are No. 11.

Here's a sampling of what the national pundits are saying about the Packers:

Pete Prisco at CBSSports.com: They are back in first in the division, but they still seem to be off some. When do they turn it on? Do they? Can they?

ESPN.com: Injuries on offense, major questions on defense, but they're still slugging. If they get healthy in time, they'll be dangerous in the playoffs.

ProFootballTalk.com: When the injured guys return, this team will be even more dangerous. Unless other guys get hurt along the way.
