A Collin Christmas Benefit and Christmas entertainment event will be Dec. 21 at the Ridges.

Collin Cushman was born Dec. 19, 2010, and was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy at 13 months. It is a rare genetic disorder that affects the myelin sheath, which slowly breaks down the nervous system, causing brain cells to be destroyed. This disease causes severe deterioration of mental and motor skills. Signs and symptoms can include irritability, fevers, stiff limbs, seizures, developmental delays, difficulty feeding and frequent episodes of vomiting.
