Wisconsin Public Service Corp. sent nine workers east to help with restoration of natural gas service on Long Island, N.Y.

The Green Bay utility earlier sent crews to help restore electrical service in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The crews will work for 14 consecutive work days beginning Monday.

Volunteer crews were dispatched from Green Bay, Oshkosh, Stevens Point and Wausau.

WPS sent 25 electrical crew members to Connecticut and New Jersey for two weeks in the immediate wake of the hurricane, which killed power to millions.

Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas, both of Chicago and also subsidiaries of Integrys Energy Group, sent 25 workers to aid in natural gas restoration.
