Katie Olson knows firsthand the effects of impairment and distraction on driving.

After being involved in a car crash with a drunken driver last June, she and her friends jumped at the chance to start a project that would influence people's choices while driving.

Olson and three other seniors at Pacelli High School are trying to raise $10,700 by Dec. 31 to buy a One Simple Decision simulator, a console and projection screen which mimics the effects of driving drunk or distracted. ...
