Wisconsin Business Development presented Kocourek Automotive Group with the 2012 Wisconsin Community Impact Award.

Kocourek Automotive Group, owned by Keith Kocourek, consists of five dealerships in the Wausau area and includes Chevrolet, Nissan/Kia, Ford/Lincoln, Hyundai/Audi/Volkswagen and Subaru. In addition to sales and leasing of new and used vehicles, they also provide complete service for these brands and others.

Kocourek partnered with Wisconsin Business Development and River Valley Bank on three different projects. In 2009, Kocourek utilized an Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loan to purchase the Ford dealership. Two years later, Kocourek used a second SBA 504 loan to renovate the Chevrolet dealership. In 2012, he constructed a 26,000 square foot Nissan/Kia dealership with the same type of loan. The purchase and renovation projects have had a significant impact on the local job market, creating 55 new jobs, bringing the total number of employees to more than 225 within the Kocourek Automotive Group.

Presentation of the award was Nov. 29 at the Friends of Small Business Luncheon in Pewaukee.

Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corp. has been partnering with Wisconsin financial institutions since 1981.

The Upper Iowa University Center in Wausau celebrated 20 years of providing educational opportunities in the northern and central portions of the state. The Wausau Center is one of five Upper Iowa locations in the state of Wisconsin, and was one of three off-campus U.S. education centers opened by Upper Iowa in 1992.

The Wausau Center, located within Northcentral Technical College, 1000 W. Campus Drive, serves more than 250 students, on average, with courses in 12 degree programs. Courses are offered during six eight-week terms throughout the year. The UIU Online Program also offers master's degree programs and many of the courses for the undergraduate degree plans.


American Engineering Testing, Schofield, a leading engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announce Andrew J. Walters, joined the firm as a geotechnical engineer. Walters brings over seven years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials QA/QC, and construction oversight.

Jim Clemens, an American Family Insurance agent in Schofield, has been recognized for providing outstanding customer experience under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Insurance Agency Program.

Clemens has qualified for this award for seven years.
