OWI Task Force will check bars for underage drinkers

Brown County OWI Task Force officers soon will enter bars during deployments to ensure bartenders don't serve liquor to underage patrons, but a county tavern league member says that move will hurt local businesses.

"I feel that the taverns govern themselves and I don't feel that we need compliance checks," said Larry Rand, Brown County Tavern League vice president and owner of Royal Scot Golf Course in New Franken. "If there's an establishment that has a history of serving minors, then maybe they need to be looked at in a different way."
