Packers waive DL Jones off injured reserve

Dec. 10, 2012

The Green Bay Packers waived defensive lineman Johnny Jones off their injured reserve list this weekend.

The 6-foot-4, 321-pound Jones spent 15 games on the Packersí practice squad last season, but never was able to make it off the teamís physically unable to perform list this year because of a knee injury that ultimately landed him on injured reserve.

Jones, 24, was visible throughout training camp and had been the only player, along with veteran linebacker Desmond Bishop, to spend the entire regular season on the teamís injured reserve list without settlement.

A first-year defensive tackle out of Marshall, Jones signed to the Packersí practice squad on Sept. 21, 2011, after spending his first training camp in Miami. He played 40 games with the Thundering Herd, including 13 starts.

Jonesí release puts the Packersí injured reserve list at nine players.
