Cold weather is right around the corner, and now is the time to think about "cold weather emergencies."

We should remember that more Americans die during the cold months than at any other time of the year. Each year, more than 600 people in the United States die from hypothermia. Hypothermia, a reduction in the body's core temperature to less than 95 degrees, is a preventable medical emergency usually caused by prolonged exposure to cold temperatures without adequate protective clothing.
