College honors

? Kristin Cmeyla, a communicative disorders student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, received a $250 National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association award. She is a 2009 Green Bay Preble High School graduate.

? In May, Amanda Harke and Lisa Lallensack, Green Bay, earned doctor of physical therapy degrees from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Lindsey Adams, Green Bay, earned a master's degee in education, school psychology; and Alan Tomow, Keshena, earned a master's degree in recreation management. The following area students earned bachelor's degrees: Allison Albers, Sam Gavic, Erik Hanson, Ryan Schaller, Melany Vanden Langenberg, Emily Vercauteren, Andrew Zink, De Pere; Laura Hanna, Denmark; Matthew Baumann, Brian Boyea, Kayla Luedeman, Joshua Roethle, Jennifer Stepaniak, Kacie Van Calster, McKenzie Watzka, Brianne Wienkers, Green Bay; Jonathan Swanson, Greenleaf; Ashley Schuldes, Hobart; Emma Angoli, Maribel; Courtney Zahn, Oneida; Andriana Angeli, Pulaski; and Benjamin Axell, Wrightstown.

? Jeffery Furger of Green Bay was among the University of Wisconsin-Platteville chemistry students who attended the graduate research symposium at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. in October. Furger presented his undergraduate research during a poster session and learned about graduate school through speakers and talks with WSU graduate students.

Other honors

? The American Association of University Women awarded Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes a $10,000 Community Action Grant. This two-year grant provides start-up funds for new projects to address needs of the community while developing girls leadership skills, promoting education and equality for women and girls.
