I'm not normally a person who follows politics. I do my research on the candidates, vote, and that's about it.
However, this year we are faced with the fiscal cliff, which cannot be ignored. We need President Barack Obama and Congress to work together to put people like me and other middle class Americans first.
We have the option to preserve the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy or raise taxes on the people who make more than $250,000 a year. If we spend our money on tax cuts for the wealthy, budget shortfalls will force cuts in education like having fewer Pell Grants. As a current student at UW-Green Bay, I rely on Pell Grants in order to go to school to ensure I can have a bright future.
I ask Congressman Reid Ribble to vote to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent and stand up for students like me.
