Monday McCarthy: Sticking with Crosby

Dec. 17, 2012

Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media on Monday following his teamís 21-13 win over Chicago. Here are some highlights from his news conference:

*First of all, Mason Crosby is an accountable man. He needs to perform better. I donít want to be totally redundant. Iím disappointed in the way he performed yesterday. Thereís more that goes into it. At the end of the day, Mason will be our kicker.

*We had a yardage mark we were going with on the fourth-and-6. The disappointing thing about the fourth down conversions is we didnít get any points out of them.

*Not going to sit here and act like everyone is sitting around here watching whatís going on. Nobody is happy with the number of kicks Mason has missed. As we stand here today about whoís going to line up and kick Ė itís Mason Crosby.

*I think it goes to the core of the philosophy of what we do here, which is draft and develop. Letís not act like thereís times when things arenít moving in the right direction.

*Clay Matthews was a game-ball winner. I have a lot of respect for Clay Matthews, not just what he did on the field. When he came here as a rookie, sat in front row, was respectful to veterans. Like the way he goes about his business.

*Charles Woodsonís situation. Weíre going to play him as soon as heís ready. Spoke to Charles today. He needs to play.

*Saw Jordy Nelson this morning in training room. Hasnít gone through the whole medical process, weíll have a better picture on Wednesday.

*Saw Aaron Rodgers briefly. I donít think ankle is going to be an issue.
