New Packers monument would light up downtown

A trail of historic sites highlighting the early years of the Green Bay Packers could soon feature a goalpost-shaped monument that lights up at night.

Organizers of the Packers Heritage Trail announced Tuesday that they hope to build the new attraction at the corner of Cherry Street and North Washington Street in downtown Green Bay.

The monument would include two 27-foot-tall standards shaped like a goalpost, along with statues of legends Paul Hornung and Johnny "Blood" McNally, and glass walls etched with images of Packers glory. ...
