The Green Bay Packers have again referred back to their training camp rolodex to fill an opening on the teamís eight-man practice squad.
Two weeks after reinserting offensive lineman Shea Allard back their ranks, the Packers signed cornerback Otis Merrill to their eight-man squad with linebacker Vic Soíoto signing to the Washington Redskinsí active roster.
A 5-foot-11, 188-pound rookie out of Illinois State, Merrill was back in uniform during Wednesdayís practice after originally being signed by the Packers as a non-drafted free agent on May 14 after participating in the teamís rookie orientation camp on a tryout basis.
Merrill was with Green Bay during the preseason before being released on Aug. 31.
Soíoto, a second-year linebacker out of Brigham Young who was in his second stint with the franchise, was signed to the practice squad last week after being given his release two days earlier when the team promoted defensive tackle Jordan Miller to the active roster.
Of the team's current eight-man practice squad, five players spent training camp with the Packers, including three players - quarterback B.J. Coleman, tackle Andrew Datko and tight end Brandon Bostick - who have remained on the squad throughout the entire season.
