Post-practice McCarthy: Dietrich-Smith expected to start vs Titans

Dec. 21, 2012

Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media following practice on Friday. Here are some highlights from his news conference:

-OL T.J. Lang (concussion/cold), C Jeff Saturday (neck) and DL Jerel Worthy (hamstring) returned to practice on Friday.

-Not practicing, included RB Alex Green (concussion); FB John Kuhn (personal); OL Greg Van Roten (back, illness); RB James Starks (knee); TE Tom Crabtree (hamstring); WR Jordy Nelson (hamstring); DL C.J. Wilson (knee).

-Nelson, Crabtree, Starks, Wilson and Woodson were ruled out for Sunday’s game against Tennessee. No report on Kuhn.

-Green, Van Roten and Worthy are questionable to play.

-T.J. Lang has passed his concussion test. Green has one more hurdle to go through tomorrow. It’s been a scheduling issue.

-Jeff Saturday will be ready to go. We’ll see if he starts at center. We will probably go with Evan Dietrich-Smith to start the game. Saturday didn’t do a whole lot today.

-Dietrich-Smith is definitely his best position.

-Dezman has done very well. I felt he started off strong on special teams. Now, he’s back and forth between special teams and defense, he needs to get back to the rhythm he had earlier in the season. His reps on defense will work itself out. He’s earned more opportunities.

-Pleased with development of our younger players. This is where we’ve been preparing for coming off last season to make sure we had as many players as possible involved.

-John Kuhn is traveling for personal reasons. He had traveling issues this morning.
