NewPage emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy

NewPage Corp. has successfully completed its financial restructuring and officially emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the papermaker announced Friday.

A court-approved restructuring plan likely will have little effect on the operations of the company's facilities in Wisconsin Rapids, Biron and Stevens Point because operations have continued as normal during the bankruptcy process, said Cliff Bowers, a local spokesman for the Ohio-based papermaker.
