The Eye Clinic of Wisconsin in January will open a new surgery center at its Wausau office.

The clinic, which is based at 800 N. First St. in Wausau, serves more than 70,000 patients a year in that office and satellite offices in Merrill, Rhinelander, Antigo, Medford and Stevens Point.

After nearly 50 years in Wausau, the clinic built a new 55,000-square-foot, three-story facility in 2008. A portion of the building was not used until the clinic earlier this year decided to open the EC Laser and Surgery Institute.
