EDS aims for chemistry with Rodgers

Dec. 23, 2012

Playing center is different than any other position on the offensive line.

Chemistry with the quarterback is paramount.

The center and the quarterback must be on the same page when it comes to protection calls and snap counts.

So it would seem almost certain that Aaron Rodgers gave his approval to the Packers’ decision to bench Jeff Saturday in favor of Evan Dietrich-Smith for today’s game against the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field.

Not only will Dietrich-Smith need to perform well today, he will have to live up to Rodgers’ expectations.

“I always take appreciation for him backing me so much, and I’ve always tried to take advantage of my opportunities,” Dietrich-Smith said. “For him to go out there and say he’s got a lot of faith in me means a lot to me. But it’s just something I want to go out there and prove to the other guys that I can go out there and we fit really good together and we all belong out there.”
