Morning roundup: McCarthy not playing scared

Dec. 25, 2012

Packers coach MIke McCarthy said in no uncertain terms on Monday that he has no regrets about playing receiver Randall Cobb on special teams as a punt and kickoff returner, even though Cobb hurt his ankle Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

ďIíll be honest with you, I donít really have a tolerance for this because I donít understand how you play scared in the game of football,Ē McCarthy said Monday when asked about the risk of playing Cobb on special teams.

ďI donít get that. I think itís convenient questioning. I understand the risk involved in every single play. Some plays are higher risk than others, and Iím fully aware of that, but you canít sit here and say special teams is important if you donít put a guy like Randall Cobb out there as a returner."
