This is a short note to my state Sen. Frank Lasee and state Rep. Andre Jacque. In light of the recent carnage in Newtown, Conn., I would like you to know that I'm feeling more unsafe all the time, since you passed the concealed carry bill.
You will vehemently disagree with me, but the facts are, everyone who passes a criminal background check to get a license to carry a concealed, loaded weapon did not pass any psychological evaluation. Neither you, nor anyone else in the Legislature, knows if any of these thousands of people are mentally fit to carry a weapon. Passing a criminal background check is no guarantee. There is no statewide data base that tracks people with mental problems so my freedom to go safely about my life, is being infringed upon.
I don't feel safe and you can't guarentee my safety.
