Second Amendment needs to be updated to protect US citizens

We shamefully live in a country not governed by freedoms, but by wealth, greed and power. This becomes crystal clear when it comes to what has occurred in Sandy Hook.

The Second Amendment is an outdated right that needs to be re-introduced to fit our modern times. When written, we had just went through the worst war right within our own United States. Brother against brother. What could be more horrible? It is happening again! So scared were all people they were given the right to keep and bear arms in case the unimaginable occurred again. There was no Army or government or state militia. Of course you needed to protect yourself, it not you, who?

But now we have militias, both state (police, sheriffs, state patrol marshals) and federal (all branches of our military, FBI, ATF and others). To have a rifle or shotgun to feed your family by hunting seasons is good. A concealed weapon on the street, for what? If you feel so unsafe in the area you live that you need to carry a gun under your coat, move! You have that gun not because it's safe or a form of protection. It's just another bully tactic daring you to knock the chip off their shoulder, so they have a no good reason to use it.

The power of the NRA (National Rifle Association) tells the government, through billions of lobbying dollars, exactly how things are going to be.

The NRA needs to be put on the same fast track the most powerful unions were put on last year.

No one hunts with a handgun or assault rifle, or exploding ammunition. No one needs to have these weapon, unless you are fully deputized, sworn in or warrenteed by a government established militia either state or federal.

The NRA, even in its own smugness, has in its own way thrown out the "Brady Bill," which was confirmed and put into law by President Reagan. The law only works if it's good and helps lobbyists. We are losing all our original freedoms, but it's sugar-coated, so it's easier to swallow.

Besides, more powerful weapons, the NRA also puts billions of its profits into ammunition of all sizes to support the world's conflicts. Support them, you support wars. Support wars, you support the deaths of American soldiers, American citizens in Mexico and other countries.

Show the NRA and gun lobbyists who really has the power in our government. Ask our government officials at all levels to vote down the new conceal carry laws. Ban assault rifles, handguns and everything but stock type-1 ammunition. And then the stricter laws for sale of weapons by gun shops, gun shows and by private individuals. And last, reinforce the Brady Bill.
