Twenty years ago, the Green Bay Packers went to Minnesota for the regular-season finale with a playoff berth on the line. Unlike this year, they were on the outside hoping to get in.

The Packers needed to beat the Vikings at the Metrodome, then get some help to earn an NFC wild-card playoff berth. That didn't happen.

Minnesota defeated the Packers 27-7. Green Bay finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs for the 10th straight year. The Vikings (11-5) were NFC Central Division champions. ...
