Green Bay area jobless rate rises to 5.8%

The Green Bay area's unemployment rate was higher in November than October, but there might be less difference than it appears.

The state Department of Workforce Development said Thursday that unemployment in the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area - which includes Brown, Kewaunee and Oconto counties - was 5.8 percent, compared with 5.3 percent in October and 6.2 percent in November 2011. DWD reported increases in all 12 of the state's metro areas.
