Wood County fire departments have added a 10th red bulb to their Keep the Wreath Green wreaths for a fire that occurred Thursday in Wisconsin Rapids.

A chimney fire in a Wisconsin Rapids home caused about $500 worth of damage. The fire was contained to the chimney, according to a news release from Marshfield Deputy Fire Chief Robert Haight III, coordinator for Wood County's Keep the Wreath Green program.

From Thanksgiving Day through the end of the year, Wood County fire departments will replace one green bulb on the wreaths hanging on their stations with a red bulb. The goal of the Keep the Wreath Green program is to encourage people to be aware of fire safety during the busy holiday season and to keep as many green lights as possible on the wreaths
