Remember when you started your business or your business career? Looking back you probably are thinking "I wish I had known that!" or "If I'd only had someone to bounce ideas by and honestly discuss the pros and cons"! Now you can do that for area entrepreneurs.

SCORE, a nonprofit organization, wants to bring Fond du Lac and surrounding area business people together to offer their skills and know-how to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Volunteers will be provided training and have access to tools and templates to support them in providing free counseling.

Confidential counseling is done face-to-face, via phone or online.

SCORE offers valuable business mentoring services online at www.score.org. The website's content has grown to provide visitors with easy access to business information resources. If you are outside the immediate Fond du Lac area, you can assist entrepreneurs via phone or online. Volunteers may mentor or provide specialty services only. Most volunteers have owned and operated their own business or have professional backgrounds. Volunteers may be retired, members of a company's community service organization or part of a pro bono service. If you have experience in managing a business, helping businesses in operations, marketing, engineering, managing projects, business or patent law, banking, accounting, admin, public relations, personnel, website development or information technology, this is an opportunity for you to work and network with other business people who want to give back to their community by helping small businesses succeed and create jobs.

Perhaps volunteering is going to be your New Year's resolution. Make it more than a thought?make it happen! Find out more by going to "Contact Us" on our website www.foxcities.score.org; or by calling Steve Leaman at Horicon Bank in Fond du Lac at 920-952-7071 before Jan. 4 to find out more about our organizational meeting in Fond du Lac.
