The nation may best remember the weather of 2012 for Superstorm Sandy in the fall, but for Green Bay, the most memorable weather event may well have been a two-week warm spell in March that included a day of 82 degrees.

It tied and set a variety of warm-weather records and launched spring-like conditions that lured plants and flowers out four to six weeks earlier than normal, then killed many of them in April freezes. The phenomenon knocked off nearly 10 percent from the Door County cherry harvest, according to the National Weather Service in Ashwaubenon.
