Unemployment up in Oshkosh, Winnebago County

The Oshkosh area's unemployment rate showed a slight increase from October to November, but remains lower than it was one year ago.

The city of Oshkosh unemployment rate rose from 5.7 percent in October to 6.2 percent in November, according to data released this week by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. In November 2011, the city's unemployment rate was at 6.6 percent. Out of 31 cities DWD tracks, Oshkosh ranked 18th with Racine topping the list with 11.5 percent unemployment.

Winnebago County unemployment increased from 5.2 percent in October to 5.6 percent in November, but was still lower than the 5.7 percent unemployment reported in November 2011. Out of 72 counties, Winnebago County's unemployment ranked 50th with Menominee County topping the list with 13.5 percent unemployment.

Wisconsin's unemployment rate in November was 6.3 percent, up 0.6 percent from 5.7 percent in October.
