Marshfield man remains in custody after 2011 plot to kill abortion doctors

A federal magistrate refused Friday to release from custody Ralph Lang, of Marshfield, who has been indicted for attempting to shoot abortion providers in a 2011 incident in Madison.

Magistrate Stephen Crocker said Lang's "delusions" or what Lang calls a "decree from God" to act against Planned Parenthood personnel makes him a danger to the community.

Quoting a psychiatrist who examined Lang, Crocker said Lang's "fervent delusional belief" that God speaks to him makes the security conditions proposed for Lang useless. ...
