Saying the De Pere Christian Outreach Food Pantry was housed in a closet is no exaggeration. It was a 10-foot-by-10-foot space off a hallway of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, serving more than 100 families a month in 2011.

The Stupka family spent their days with the other volunteers, hauling donations from the basement storage space to the cramped closet upstairs, and they all worked as efficiently as possible when, once a week, the line of those in need stretched out into the cold.

Today, a 3,000-square-foot building houses a double-wide cooler, a refrigerator, three freezers and shelves ...
