Cobb will reportedly sit out against Vikings

Dec. 30, 2012

A week from the start of the playoffs, the Green Bay Packers wonít roll on the dice on Randall Cobb.

According to Fox Sportsí Jay Glazer, the second-year wide receiver/returner will sit out of todayís regular-season finale against Minnesota with the ankle and knee injuries he sustained in last Sundayís 55-7 win over Tennessee.

A win over the Vikings would clinch a first-round bye for the Packers, but they also want to be cautious with Cobb, who was questionable to play after being a limited participant in practice on Friday.

The move sets the Packers up to have all four of their primary receivers healthy for the start of the playoffs, a luxury the team hasnít had since the regular-season opener against San Francisco.

Without Cobb, first-year wide receiver Jeremy Ross likely will handle kickoffs and punt returns after breaking a 58-yard return in relief of Cobb last week. On offense, Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley likely will get increased work in the slot where Cobb had established himself as the teamís leading receiver so far this season.

The Packersí official inactives will be announced at approximately 1:55 p.m. Central Time. The team has already announced defensive back Charles Woodson (collarbone) and running back James Starks (knee) are out for today's game.

Cornerback Davon House (shoulder) is also doubtful and Packers coach Mike McCarthy has yet to play a player listed as doubtful this season.
