Second-quarter summary: Vikings 20, Packers 10

Dec. 30, 2012

Vikings 20, Packers 10
Mason Crosby, 51-yard field goal, 0:00.
Keys: Needing a score, Rodgers hit three quick passes to Jennings, Finley and Nelson before being sacked by Everson Griffen for a loss of 9 yards. With no timeouts, Rodgers completed a 14-yard pass to Finley, who stepped out of bounds to set up only Crosby’s second make of the season from beyond 50 yards.
Drive: 7 plays, 47 yards, 1:07.
Attendance: 64,134.

Vikings 20, Packers 7
Jarius Wright, 7-yard pass from Christian Ponder (Walsh kick), 1:07.
Keys: The Packers couldn’t catch a break on the series with a Burnett blitz forcing Ponder into his only regrettable decision of the first half led to a ball being batted around before falling into the arms of Wright for a 17-yard gain. It looked like it might have been incomplete, but the Packers didn’t have any timeouts left to challenge the catch. After Peterson busted through for a gain of 19 yards from the Packers’ 26, Ponder hit Wright on a short dump-off for the 7-yard score.
Drive: 7 plays, 60 yards, 2:54.

Vikings 13, Packers 7
Greg Jennings, 3-yard pass from Aaron Rodgers (Crosby kick), 4:01.
Keys: The Packers benefited greatly from a 32-yard punt return from Jeremy Ross that gave them the ball at the Minnesota 42. DuJuan Harris darted out for a 12-yard carry to start the series, which also happened to be its longest play, as well. The Packers had several close calls, but made short third-down completions to James Jones and Greg Jennings to keep the drive moving. Jennings dropped a pass on first-and-goal before coming back two plays later with the catch in the back of the end zone.
Drive: 12 plays, 42 yards, 5:06.

Vikings 13, Packers 0
Walsh, 37-yard field goal, 14:51.
Keys: The Packers were able to contain Peterson on their third drive, but couldn’t stop him on a fourth-and-1 from the Packers’ 43 where Peterson evaded a surging A.J. Hawk to peel out for a 6-yard gain. Ponder hit a clutch 10-yard completion to Kyle Rudolph on third-and-7 to keep drive moving and adding another 8-yard scramble before settling for Walsh’s field goal.
Drive: 11 plays, 34 yards, 4:14.
