Third-quarter summary: Vikings 27, Packers 24

Dec. 30, 2012

Vikings 27, Packers 24
James Jones, 8-yard pass from Rodgers (Crosby kick), 2:04.
Keys: On third-and-4, Rodgers hit Nelson in stride for 73 yards to set up Jonesí touchdown catch on the following play. Before it was ruled a touchdown, however, officials said Jones fumbled the ball before he crossed into the end zone. The fumble was awarded to the Vikings, which caused Mike McCarthy to throw the challenge flag. The move resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty because it was an automatic booth review. It could have wiped out the challenge, but because the replay officials were already reviewing the play it was allowed and fumble overturned.
Drive: 4 plays, 87 yards, 1:56.

Vikings 27, Packers 17
Adrian Peterson, 2-yard pass from Ponder (Walsh kick), 4:00.
Keys: After a Rodgers fumble gave the Vikings the ball at the 50, Ponder hit Jerome Simpson for 21. Peterson fumbled on the series, but it was overturned as a two-yard loss. Despite taking an unsportsmanlike penalty on the series, Peterson rushed for 28 yards on the next play, which was second-and-27. The Packers held on third-and-goal from the 5-yard line, but Jerron McMillian was flagged for holding for the first down.
Drive: 9 plays, 50 yards, 4:07.

Vikings 20, Packers 17
Greg Jennings, 5-yard pass from Rodgers (Crosby kick), 11:56.
Keys: The Packers came out strong in the second half with two lengthy completions to Jones (30 yards) and Greg Jennings (45 yards) out of the slot in which he eluded several would-be tacklers. Two plays later, the Vikings left Jennings wide open in the corner of the end zone for the score.
Drive: 6 plays, 80 yards, 3:04.
