Fourth-quarter summary: Vikings 37, Packers 34

Dec. 30, 2012

Vikings 37, Packers 34
Walsh, 29-yard field goal, 0:00.
Keys: The Packers stopped Peterson 9 yards short of the NFL single-season rushing record, but not enough to prevent one last Vikings’ drive. After a 25-yard completion to Jenkins on third-and-11 and Packers only rushing three, the next four plays went through Peterson, including a 26-yard run to set up the game-winner. McCarthy tried to freeze the rookie Pro Bowler, but he made the 29-yarder both times to facilitate the Vikings’ victory.
Drive: 8 plays, 61 yards, 2:54.

Vikings 34, Packers 34
Jordy Nelson, 2-yard pass from Rodgers (Crosby kick), 2:54.
Keys: The Packers willed themselves during their final scoring drive with Nelson returning to the field from a knee injury and wide receiver Jarrett Boykin being carted off shortly after a fourth-and-1 catch despite being interfered with from the Packers’ own 47 to keep the drive alive. After a 15-yard completion to Jennings on third-and-4, Harris took a screen for 11 before a defensive pass interference call committed on Nelson put the Packers at the Minnesota 2.
Drive: 11 plays, 78 yards, 5:00.

Vikings 34, Packers 27
Michael Jenkins, 3-yard pass from Ponder (Walsh kick), 7:50.
Keys: Jarius Wright beat Sam Shields for a 65-yard pass that Ponder placed perfectly over the top of the Packers’ secondary. The Packers stopped the Vikings short of the end zone on third-and-goal from the 12-yard line after a holding call, but an illegal hands to the face flag on Tramon Williams gave Minnesota a fresh set of downs before Ponder hit Jenkins on a short third-and-goal pass from the 4.
Drive: 7 plays, 79 yards, 4:27.

Vikings 27, Packers 27
Crosby, 41-yard field goal, 12:21.
Keys: The Packers started at the 50 after a face-mask personal foul on the Vikings’ punt. DuJuan Harris came through with two explosive runs, including a 6-yarder to set up Crosby’s kick, but Greg Jennings also squeezed out an 11-yard completion on a short screen that looked to only go for a couple before his second effort.
Drive: 8 plays, 28 yards, 2:39.
