Green Bay water officials have lifted a boil order and declared the water system nearly back to normal, although questions remain about what caused a major pipeline failure over the weekend.

Bill Nabak, general manager of the Green Bay Water Utility, said today tests have shown that no contamination occurred when the 36-inch pipeline ruptured on the city's southeast side on Saturday morning, leaking 7 million to 8 million gallons in what Nabak described as a "geyser."

There were reports of water shooting to 40 feet into the air, Nabak said. ...
