Bears reportedly interested in Clements again

Jan. 1, 2013

The Chicago Tribune reported that the Bears have asked for permission to interview Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements for their head-coaching position.

The Bears tried to interview Clements for their offensive coordinator job in 2010, but the Packers declined their request.

Given that teams canít prevent assistant coaches from interviewing for head coaching jobs, the Bears request this time around was just a courtesy.

Clements is in his first season as the Packers offensive coordinator after serving as quarterbacks coach from 2006-11. He was promoted to offensive coordinator when Joe Philbin became the Miami Dolphins head coach.

Clements wasnít available for comment on today. He is expected to be available Wednesday, when the Packers offensive coaches are scheduled to meet with reporters.
