There are many different reasons why people volunteer: to give back to the community, to stay active and make new friends or simply to help others and make a difference.

But did you know there are some practical reasons to volunteer? For example, volunteering is an excellent way to gain valuable work experience. The people you meet volunteering potentiallycould become wonderful references for a resume or college application. Many times, what a volunteer gets out of the experience far exceeds the effort put into it.
