Suring village president pays fine after lying to deputy

Suring's longtime village president pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct in Oconto County Circuit Court last week.

Jay Tousey, 65, was originally charged with obstruction of an officer, which was amended to disorderly conduct as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced by Judge Jay N. Conley to pay $631 fine and court costs.

According to the criminal complaint filed on Nov. 14, Tousey lied to an Oconto County Sheriff's Department deputy who was investigating the theft of wood boiler being stored on his property in the town of Maple Valley. ...
