Wisconsin Rapids City Council primaries could be on horizon

Filing deadline for nomination papers is 5 p.m. today

With two Wisconsin Rapids City Council members announcing they will not seek re-election, the races for the city's districts 3 and 7 are heating up.

As of Monday afternoon, three people had expressed interest in running for each of the seats, City Clerk Shane Blaser said. If all six people file nomination papers, including the required 20 to 40 signatures by today's 5 p.m. deadline, there will be two primaries.
