Shoveling Lambeau: Hundreds of people showed up Thursday, Jan. 2, 2013, to help shovel snow out of Lambeau Field for Sunday's playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.

Hundreds of people turned out Thursday to help prepare Lambeau Field for Saturday night's NFC wild-card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.

About 600 people shoveled snow from the stadium, but Packers officials had to turn away 375 people who lined up to help on Thursday morning, said Todd Edlebeck, the Packers facilities manager. Shovelers started at 8:30 a.m. and stayed out in the bowl until about 1 p.m., Edlebeck said later Thursday

It's the second time this season the Packers organization has called for help to shovel out the stadium.

Pep rally

Green Bay Packers fans are invited to a pep rally at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of East Walnut Street downtown.

Organizers urge fans to wear their green and gold, and show support for the team.

Entertainment will be provided, along with remarks from team President Mark Murphy. The rally will last about 30 minutes.
