Contested city office races dot spring election

This spring, the three Stevens Point elected city offices will be contested in the same year for the first time in at least seven decades.

Wednesday was the deadline to file nomination paperwork and a declaration of candidacy. The election is April 2, and winners will serve two years terms.

City Attorney Louis Molepske will face challenger Andrew Logan Beveridge, the current District 1 City Council member. Molepske has held the office since 1967. John Moe has been city clerk since 2004, and will be opposed by Karlyn Krautkramer. Comptroller/treasurer ...
